When soft tissue is damaged it needs to repair.  Many processes take place at repair stage, some of which can be enhanced through therapy given at the appropriate stage of healing. 

To recover, the damaged area requires enhanced local circulation, increased nutrients and the removal of pain. 

Pain restricts movement, the effects of which are decribed by the cycles below.
